The History of MAISON ROCA

The origins

The Roca family has been engaged in commerce since 1949, continually adapting to an Andorra in constant transformation.

In 1972, Josep Roca and his siblings Marcel·lí and Assumpció, owners of Granja Roca Grup, opened a shop devoted exclusively to tobacco, luxury smoking accessories—including Dupont, Cartier and Dunhill lighters—and items such as pipes and luxury tobacco boxes. One department sold gold bars and coins, which inspired the shop’s name: Mercat de l’Or.

The First Jewellery and Gemstones

During the 1980s, a passion for mineralogy and gemmology led Josep Roca’s son Joan Roca, now president of Granja Roca Grup, into the world of jewellery. Exclusive pieces made in the company’s workshops, together with a growing selection of renowned brands, established Mercat de l’Or as an unusual destination described as a “luxury bazaar”.

The Transformation into a Luxury Jewellery and Watchmaking House

In 1991, Mercat del Diamant opened in a landmark building designed specifically for jewellery, watches and collectables. The building also housed workshops where the company created its own jewellery.

During this new chapter, Rosa Roca, a GIA-qualified gemmologist, joined the Mercat del Diamant team and contributed to the development of the family business.

The business continued to evolve with the opening of Bàsic Mercat in 2012, a strategic move to diversify its brands and strengthen its focus on exclusivity.

A New Way of Thinking About Luxury

Susanna Roca’s appointment as CEO and the creation of MAISON ROCA in 2023 marked the company’s consolidation. Its boutiques—Mercat del Diamant, Bàsic Mercat and MAISON ROCA—were brought together under one brand: MAISON ROCA.

Today, MAISON ROCA has three boutiques on Avinguda Meritxell, at numbers 18, 50 and 97, presenting more than 35 prestigious jewellery and watch brands. These include Breitling, Pomellato, CHANEL, Chaumet, Messika, FRED and dinh van, alongside our own registered jewellery brand, MAISON ROCA®.

Our philosophy is shaped by a commitment to exceptional quality, exclusivity and innovation. Every creation is selected or conceived to express elegance, refinement and enduring beauty.

The Roca family legacy continues through its devotion to craftsmanship, innovation and the commitment of a new generation to sustainability. With more than four decades of experience in jewellery, MAISON ROCA represents a distinctive vision of luxury: creative, bold and timeless, defined by an enduring commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
